South Shore Rock n Ride Duathlon 06/10/2012

The fourth year of this event is also Race #2 in the Great Lakes Duathlon Series. The course is flat and fast. The bike ride is 10 miles long so it is a very SPRINT focused event.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Saturday, June 9th – Cudahy High School
9.am. – 2 p.m. – Registration and Packet Pick-Up
Sunday, June 10th – Cudahy High School
6:00 – 7:45 a.m. – Registration and Packet Pick- Up
8:00 a.m. – RACE STARTS

DISTANCE
2 mile run – 10 mile bike – 2 mile run

THE COURSE
Run
This is an out-and-back course, and both running legs follow the same route. It has some hills, and some gravel trails may be used depending upon weather conditions.

This two mile run is done as the first leg and the last leg of the event.

Bike
A beautiful and scenic course through the country roads surrounding Cudahy. This is an out-and-back course that will head north and then return to the transition area on Lake Drive.

WHAT GREAT LAKES MULTISPORT PROVIDES
We provide technically sound, safe, and exciting events. Participants receive a Tee Shirt, goody bag, computer timing, food and fun after the event.

Bike racks will have your race number and wave you start in. Each mile on the run courses will be marked. All courses will have highly visible signage for each turn.

Elite Athletes wishing a First Wave exemption must contact us at colebraun@me.com and request a first wave start.

AWARDS
Awards will be given to the first three overall female and male winners. Age group awards will be given to the top 5 male and female in the following categories: under 16, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up. Overall winners will be removed from the age group awards.

EVENT RULES AND INFORMATION

  1. The event has no time limit.
  2. Drafting is not permitted. Penalties will be enforced for drafting.
  3. No MP3 players, iPods, radios, or headphones allowed on the bike course. Helmets are MANDATORY.
  4. Chip pick-up is immediately prior to event, during race-day registration hours. You must have your bib number [from Transition] for chip pick-up. Lost chips are participant’s responsibility [$50 timing company fee].
  5. Transition closes at 7:45 a.m., 15 minutes prior to Event Start. Equipment must be removed from Transition immediately following the Awards Ceremony.

VOLUNTEER
Get a front row seat as a volunteer! Volunteers are needed throughout the event to help with participant body marking, directing athletes on and off the course, and handing out water and food. All volunteers receive a t-shirt, food during the race and a big thank you!!!
