The 2011 Great Lakes Duathlon Series Events are USA Triathlon Sanctioned.  This organization provides required insurance for GLM as promoters to secure insurance that is needed by local communities to allow us to operate events.  It also provides for supplemental participant insurance and allows all points accumulated during our events to contribute to athlete national rankings.  All athletes will be required to hold a current USAT license to participate.  Annual membership costs are $40 and a one day membership os $10.  See www.usatriathlon.org to sign up and see all the benefits USA Triathlon offers.

Location: Long Lake Recreation Area, Dundee – WI.

1 – 6 p.m. – Registration and Packet Pick-Up at race site
Sunday, September 25th, 2011 –
7:00 – 7:45 a.m. – Registration and Packet Pick-Up
8:00 a.m. – RACE STARTS

DISTANCE
2 mile run – 23 mile bike – 2 mile run

THE COURSE
Run – This is an out and back course with a loop on the top through the Recreation Area.  The run course is flat and fast.

Bike
A beautiful and scenic course through the country roads and is hilly and technical.  The course has several moderate climbs in the last 10 miles.

Second run leg same as the first

WHAT GREAT LAKES MULTISPORT EVENTS PROVIDES
We provide technically sound, safe, and exciting events. Participants receive a DRI WICK SHIRT, Custom Logo Pint Glass, goody bag, chip timing, food and fun after the event. There will also be plenty of water and Gatorade stations along the course.

Bike racks will have your race number and wave you start in. Each mile on the run courses will be marked. All courses will have highly visible signage for each turn. The long bike course will have aid stations and bottle exchange.

Sign up early! The wave you are in is a first-come first-serve basis and is determined on how early you register.

AWARDS
Awards will be given to the first overall female and male winners. Age group awards will be given to the top 3 male and female in 5 year increments: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and up. Awards to the top overall 3 relay teams.

EVENT RULES AND INFORMATION

  1. The event has no time limit.
  2. Drafting is not permitted. Penalties will be enforced for drafting.
  3. No MP3 players, iPods, radios, or headphones allowed on the bike course. Helmets are MANDATORY.
  4. Chip pick-up is immediately prior to event, during race-day registration hours. You must have your bib number [from Transition] for chip pick-up. Lost chips are participant’s responsibility [$50 timing company fee].
  5. Transition closes at 7:45 a.m., 15 minutes prior to Event Start. Equipment must be removed from Transition immediately following the Awards Ceremony.

VOLUNTEER

Get a front row seat as a volunteer! Volunteers are needed throughout the event to help with participant body marking, directing athletes on and off the course, and handing out water and food. All volunteers receive a t-shirt, food during the race and a big thank you!!!
